GOOD WEATHER, FOOD, FRIENDS AND LOTS OF WORK

We finished setting up camp by 10:30 am Friday morning and were heading out to work on B 152 by
11:30 am.  B 152 was a smaller guzzler and with 10 guys it only took us four hours to clean, mortar and
apply first coat of Merlex.  Now getting to B 152 was another story.  It took over an hour of travel and
some maneuvering to arrive at the work site but we managed.  Friday night we were served some
excellent elk stew and plenty of bread, all prepared by our good looking cooks.  I know several of us
could not stop with one bowl, I know I had to go back for seconds, it was good stuff.  We had home
made brownies for dessert and then our drawing.  Deb and Marie did another excellent job of
organizing the tickets and extracting cash for tickets for the drawing .  The next morning we woke to
cowboy coffee, bacon, hash browns and eggs along with orange juice, fruit and plenty of bread.   After
breakfast we left camp at 8 am, a crew went back to 152 to apply second coat of Merlex while the rest of
us headed out to B 4.  B 4 ???? as you can see from the pic's
this was not a little project.  This was a
very large apron, full of large cracks filled with tar.  The holding tank had several leaks (cracks), the
crew pumped out what little water was in the tank and then proceeded to clean the tank and patch the
cracks.  The rest of the 14 man crew started the hard job of removing all traces of the tar from the
apron.  About 1/3 of the curb around the apron needed to be removed, cleaned and concreted back
onto the apron.  On this one guzzler we used 10 Bags of Merlex, 8 bags of concrete and 4 bags of
mortar.  Around 4:00 pm we were finished applying the first coat of Merlex and headed back to camp.

Jesse and Lyle left the work site a couple hours early so they could get started on cooking the good
tasting fish for our Saturday night dinner.  When we arrived back in camp Jesse and Lyle were each
manning a BBQ and the fish was close to ready, if you like fish it smelled goooooood, the cooks were
busy getting the home made coleslaw, a big bowl of macaroni salad brought by Dan, and all other
trimmings ready to serve.   At 6:30 pm we all dove into the fish.  Again, I ate way to much, I love fish and
this is some good tasting fish that Jesse cooks up.  Now, we are all sitting around totally stuffed and
what do the cooks do...............ring the bell and start serving Dutch Oven cooked peach cobbler along
with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream.  Damm, now I am so full I have to roll to my sleeping bag.
