ABOUT US
We are:
The Society for the Protection and Care of Wildlife (SPCW) began
with Dr. Lutz responding to a request for assistance from the
California Department of Fish and Game. He organized a few friends
and work began. Tule Elk were endangered. They needed help to
recover and for a substantial number of SPCW's 39 years, Tule Elk
were our major focus. These elk are now recovered and are
considered a pest in some areas.
SPCW's other interests have always been Bighorn Sheep, deer,
antelope and Water for Wildlife....all wildlife. Bighorn Sheep are not
doing as well...due primarily to Mountain Lion predation, wildfires in
their habitat, and a number of bad decisions by bureaucrats which
have lead to a multitude of deaths.
